Drawing on videos allows you to highlight important elements, add handwritten text, or teach concepts directly on screen. You can create engaging visual callouts, highlight key elements in tutorials, and add annotations without any complex editing software. The Detail app makes this process straightforward on your iPhone or iPad.


Adding Drawings to Your Videos

Preparing Your Video

  1. Open the Detail app on your iPhone or iPad

  2. Record a new video in the app, or

  3. Import an existing video by tapping the import button and selecting from your camera roll

Creating Your Drawing

  1. Navigate to the specific part of your video where you want to add the drawing by moving along the timeline

  2. Open the canvas menu and tap Overlay, then select Draw

  3. Choose your marker type and tap the color wheel to select your preferred color

  4. Draw directly on the screen to highlight elements, write text, or add visual cues

Customizing Your Drawing

  1. Set the duration for your drawing by sliding right (longer on-screen time) or left (shorter on-screen time)

  2. Use the mask button to make your drawing appear behind you in the video

  3. Reposition or scale your drawing as needed to fit your specific needs

Detail's transcript feature makes it easy to find the exact moments for your drawings:

  1. Tap the pencil button to open the text editor view

  2. Scroll through the transcript to find the exact moment you want to add your drawing

  3. Tap on that section to jump to that point in the video

  4. Return to the preview and add your drawing
